Student of the Month
Meet our first Student of the Month of 2023, Shifa. Ever since Shifa started attending the One Life Movement learning center, she has been developing more and more in her speaking and letter recognition abilities. Although learning the alphabet was a challenge at first, Shifa can now read and say short words, which is a big improvement from where she started when she began her classes.
Meet Aditya, our December 2022 Student of the Month. Aditya is seven years old and attends the One Life Movement learning center in Vakola, Mumbai. As an only child, Aditya lives with his father, who owns a small plant nursery, and his mother, who stays at home as a housewife. Their financial situation is difficult, so they live off a footpath in the city with no house to call their own. Instead of sleeping under a roof, they have to tie a sheet of plastic up to create a makeshift covering for when they sleep.
Meet Chandini, our November 2022 Student of the Month.
Chandini attends the One Life Movement Learning Center in Odisha, India. She is 13 years old and is currently in the 8th grade.
Chandini has had a very difficult life so far. When she was only 10 months old and her sister was two years old, their father passed away suddenly. This was an enormous tragedy for their family, forcing Chandini’s mother, now a widow, to take care of her two young children by herself.
Meet our October Student of the Month, Eleena. Eleena is seven years old and attends the One Life Movement learning center in Bamanwada, Mumbai for afterschool classes and assistance. She lives in a slum in Andheri East, Mumbai with her mother, father, and brother. Her parents are originally from Mumbai, and Eleena, too, was born and raised in the city she now calls home.
Meet Zoya, our September 2022 Student of the Month. Zoya is seven years old and attends the One Life Movement learning center in Bamanwada.
Meet Shivansh, our August student of the month. Shivansh is 3 ½ years old and goes to the One Life Movement preschool in Bandra, Mumbai. His teachers describe him as a very good student, always eager to learn new things. This is his first year with OLM.
Meet our May 2023 Student of the Month: Sayna. Sayna is four years old and attends the One Life Movement preschool in Bandra, Mumbai. Her parents came to Mumbai from Bihar, but the mother recently had to go back to their hometown to take care of one of her close relatives who had fallen sick. Now, Sayna lives with just her father, who runs a local shop. Their financial situation is very tight, causing a lot of stress for Sayna’s parents. However, despite being busy with running a shop, Sayna’s father walks her to school every day and helps her with all her studies.
