Zoya: September 2022 Student of the Month

Meet Zoya, our September 2022 Student of the Month. Zoya is seven years old and attends the One Life Movement learning center in Bamanwada. 

Zoya’s young life has been very difficult so far. She is an orphan but lives with her grandmother and four other family members in a small chawl (residential building for labor workers). A total of six family members live in this one small living space, so although the family is happy to all be staying together, it can become really hard to live daily life with so many people in such a small place. 

Before coming to the OLM learning center, Zoya was disobedient and absolutely refused to do her studies. Now that she is in an OLM learning center, Zoya has found that the competition of the other kids around her has given her all the motivation she needs to work her hardest in her studies. At first, she didn’t know how to read or write and had a lot of difficulty doing her school work. Since joining OLM, she has improved tremendously in both her studies and behavior. With each passing day, Zoya is showing more and more growth, and her teachers describe her as a student with a lot of potential for success.
