Shivansh: August 2022 Student of the Month

Meet Shivansh, our August student of the month. Shivansh is 3 ½ years old and goes to the One Life Movement preschool in Bandra, Mumbai. His teachers describe him as a very good student, always eager to learn new things. This is his first year with OLM. 

Shivansh lives with his parents and two older brothers in the Mount Mary slums, but his family originally comes from a village in Uttar Pradesh. While Shivansh’s mother stays at home as a housewife, his father works as a shooting assistant for film makers. This type of work only provides daily wages, so there is no steady income for the family; it all depends on whether or not the father can find work on any particular day.

Providing for one child is a struggle financially, much less three, so even though the father works, it’s difficult for the parents to know how much they’ll be able to provide for their three boys. In the midst of hardship, Shivansh’s parents are very encouraging and are determined to give him a bright future.
