Chandini: November 2022 Student of the Month

Meet Chandini, our November 2022 Student of the Month.

Chandini attends the One Life Movement Learning Center in Odisha, India. She is 13 years old and is currently in the 8th grade.

Chandini has had a very difficult life so far. When she was only 10 months old and her sister was two years old, their father passed away suddenly. This was an enormous tragedy for their family, forcing Chandini’s mother, now a widow, to take care of her two young children by herself. Thirteen years have passed since their father passed away, and Chandini’s mother is still working small jobs for daily wages to provide for her family. Despite the mother’s hard work, they are still so poor that they are barely able to afford food, and some days they can’t afford it at all.

Despite losing her father and living in poor conditions, Chandini nonetheless shows excellent work and effort at the learning center. Her teachers praise Chandini for being a great listener and always giving the right answers. Even among her other classmates, Chandini shows great relational skills and always gets along with the other children. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, Chandini says she wants to be a teacher.

We at One Life Movement hope to help Chandini achieve her dream of becoming a teacher and impacting the lives of underprivileged children just like herself, but we couldn’t do what we do without your support. Join us today in our mission to provide high-quality education to underprivileged children all across India.
