Suprabha: November Story of Empowerment

Meet Suprabha, our November 2022 Story of Empowerment.

Suprabha lives in Behera Pali, Odisha with her family of six. Although her husband works as a rickshaw driver, it is extremely difficult for them to manage their expenses on only his income. All of their earnings go towards buying groceries for the family, sending the kids to school, and other necessities. Besides the items that are needed for daily living, they are unable to even consider saving any more money for their kids.

For a long time, Suprabha wished that she could earn some extra money for her family, but she didn’t have any skills and was therefore unable to do any work. One day, she went to visit her aunt, who was learning how to stitch clothes at the One Life Movement tailoring center. Through her aunt, Suprabha finally found an opportunity to learn a skill that would help her provide for her family and achieve financial independence.

On March 2nd, 2022, Suprabha started taking the tailoring classes. She has learned how to make masks, blouses, tops, and many different kinds of dresses. “We are all very happy with the OLM stitching classes and have decided to use this skill to earn our livelihood,” Suprabha said. “Our confidence has been boosted by this course, and we are sure that we can now earn some good money for our families. None of this could happen without the OLM tailoring center.”

Suprabha sends her thanks to the entire OLM team who helped make her dreams of financial independence a reality. The OLM tailoring center teaches so many women just like Suprabha to stitch and earn a living for themselves, but this wouldn’t be possible without your help. Join us in serving underprivileged women and families by donating today. Together, we can make a difference one life at a time.
