Dipanjali: January 2023 Story of Empowerment

Meet our first Stories of Empowerment featured student of 2023, Dipanjali.

Dipanjali lives in the Behera Pali village in Odisha. There are a total of four members in her family. Her father is the sole provider for their family, and he does a lot of manual labor, mostly hauling soil. Because of the nature of the father’s work, the family doesn’t bring in any money during the rainy season. Money becomes very tight during these few months, and Dipanjali and her family members are unable to buy some of the things they need.

A friend of Dipanjali’s told her about One Life Movement’s tailoring classes, and when she learned that she could take the classes free of cost, she seized the opportunity and instantly signed up. Finally, her dream of providing for her family was within reach!

Dipanjali says that before she started the tailoring classes, she didn’t even know how to work a sewing machine. Now, she has completed over six months of tailoring and has learned to make many items that she can sell to the benefit of her family. “My dreams of learning tailoring have finally come true,” Dipanjali says. She gives her sincere thanks to all the people at One Life Movement who came to her village to teach their women how to have financial independence.

Our tailoring center in Odisha helps so many women just like Dipanjali achieve their dreams of becoming financially independent and helping their family, but we wouldn’t be able to run the tailoring center without your support. Considering joining us in our mission to help underprivileged women find financial independence by donating today.
